Shakopee Community Ed Color RunFamily ActivitiesGet splashed with color as you support a great cause! You'll run or walk through eight color stations on our one-mile course around Sun Path Elementary. The registration fee includes a white t-shirt with this year's race logo, refreshments and an opportunity to explore our exciting summer offerings. This is an untimed, non-competitive event that focuses on fun, fitness and community. We encourage fun costumes, themes and all kinds of silliness. Strollers are allowed, but please leave your pets at home. All proceeds from this event fund financial assistance for Shakopee residents to participate in Community Education classes that promote academic, social and personal growth. Additional Event Features: 1/4-mile fun run for kids five and under. This portion of the event is free and no registration is required. Summer Program Fair. Shakopee Plant SwapHome and GardenBring your decorative and edible plants to swap and leave with something new! Plants can be in soil or bare root (bare root is preferred for perennials to help prevent the spread of jumping worms), but please place them in a bag or pot you’re ready to part with. All plant varieties are welcome, but ensure they are free from pests and diseases. Even if you don’t have plants to trade or just want to donate, you’re still welcome to join us! A Master Gardener will be available to answer questions and share helpful gardening tips. Any leftover plants will be donated to the Master Gardeners for their volunteer projects. The event will conclude once all participants have finished exchanging plants. Although the event is free, we kindly ask that you register so we can estimate attendance.Summer 2026 -
Shakopee Youth Advanced Golf CampWeek 1This intermediate golf camp is designed for those who have some experience playing golf, but would like to learn strategies for improving their game. Our focus will be teaching drills and concepts that students can use on their own. Sessions will consist of skill-building on the driving range, putting, short game and some time on the course. Players will be expected to be on time, listen attentively, and work hard. A full set of clubs is not necessary, but highly recommended. Meets four times.Summer 2026 -
Shakopee Youth Beginner Golf CampWeek 1The beginner golf camp is designed for students who are interested in trying the sport of golf. We will cover the basics of the swing, putting, scorekeeping and golf etiquette. The ultimate goal is to provide a foundation that will allow players to continue working on their own and grow their appreciation of the game. A full set of clubs is not necessary, but players will need to provide at least their own driver, any iron and a putter. We will spend three days working on basics and learning drills, and the fourth day will culminate in playing a mini-round on the actual course. Meets four times.Summer 2026 -
Shakopee Youth Track & FieldSports & ActivitiesDo you have a child who is interested in the basics of Track & Field? We are excited to offer this program for our elementary and middle school students. Each participant will get exposure to a variety of different events (both running and field events) that will help build their confidence, skills, and work ethic. They will learn a routine of proper warm-ups, drills, and stretching. Participants must bring running shoes and a water bottle to practices and meets. They will practice five times and will have three meets. Please note May 7 is a make-up rain date.Track and Field participants may choose to register at a discounted price for our annual Community Ed Color Run (1-mile) held on May 30 at Sun Path Elementary. Choose Track and Field plus 1-Mile Color Run upon checkout. Students will receive an additional t-shirt with this race. Families:We are looking for volunteers to help coach different events and activities. No prior coaching experience needed. Coaching resources will be provided to help assist you. Summer Camps & ProgramsAbout Summer Camps Choose your experience with Shakopee Community Education this summer! Each week, we will offer a variety of exciting morning and afternoon enrichment camps, all conveniently located at Sweeney Elementary (with a few exceptions). Register for the Lunch Link option (supervised lunch break) to create a full day of fun. Lunch Link For families looking for full-day options, the Lunch Link program is a perfect way to connect morning and afternoon camps. Lunch Link provides a supervised lunch hour and recess. Students are required to bring their own lunch. A separate registration is required at a cost of $20 per week. Lunch Link is only offered M-Th for camps held at Sweeney Elementary. Please note, students may register for a morning camp along with Lunch Link for a 9am-1pm experience, or they may register for Lunch Link and an afternoon camp for a Noon-4pm experience. Financial Assistance Fees for camps may be reduced for youth residing in District 720 boundaries. For families experiencing financial hardship, each immediate family member may receive up to a 50% fee reduction on one Community Education class per catalog, unless otherwise noted. Summer Entertaining with Mediterranean MezzeHome and GardenBring vibrant Mediterranean flavors to your summertime gatherings! Mezze - an assortment of small bites, dips and shareable dishes - is perfect for crowd-pleasing summer entertaining. In this hands-on class, you will learn to create a beautiful, full-flavored mezze spread using Chef Tess’ personal recipes. On the Mezze Menu: Mediterranean Kebabi; full flavored / seasoned ground meat skewers with Greek Drizzle Dressing, Tiropitakia; Phyllo wrapped savory cheese triangles, accompanied by Tzatziki; Savory Greek Yogurt Dip and Greek hummus, in addition to homemade Pita Bread! This variety of skewers, phyllo wraps, dips and pita bread make for a beautiful presentation! Learn how to make, wrap, present and plate these delicious wonders with a wonderful Greek Salad Equipment Needs: Food processor for making the humus, stand mixer with dough hook attachment for the pita bread. While cooking-along is loads of fun, and highly recommended, it is optional. This class will take place on Zoom, free online software. Participants will receive instructions on how to access the class prior to it starting. A list of ingredients and class details will be received in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and preparation. The Instructor’s Personal Recipe from this class will be included in a professionally made PDF packet to be received by participants after the class. The instructor’s recipes are copyrighted and are only shared with those who register for this class. As an added bonus, the instructor has created a private group and a public group on Facebook for participants of her cooking classes. Everyone will receive an invite to the groups although joining is optional. Come join the fun! Note: One registration fee covers immediate family members living full-time in the same household. Survive the Wild Camp: Outdoor EngineersWeek 3Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild? In this cool camp, you and your team will be challenged to create clever gadgets to help you “survive” in the wild. From engineering a periscope to harnessing the power of the sun to cook marshmallows, to designing a device for drinkable water and building a shelter, you’ll take on hands-on challenges throughout the week.
