Learn about the history and modern-day significance of these gatherings, including etiquette and the roles of drummers, dancers and elders. Whether you're new to powwows or want a deeper understanding of Native culture, this class provides a respectful space for learning, reflection and connection. Escape Room in a BoxFamily ActivitiesWork your way through a series of puzzles and ciphers to be the first team to Escape! You'll need to work as a team through these hands-on activities, using plenty of critical thinking and problem solving skills! The puzzles will be fun for all ages and prizes will be awarded for fast finishers! Pizza and water will be served at 5:30pm and the contest will begin at 6pm. Teams must contains two to four members, and the minimum age to participate is eight. Children must attend with an adult.Winter/Spring 2026 -
Pair Painting: Summer SunflowerFamily ActivitiesSpend quality time painting with your child in this fun, hands-on class. No experience is needed. Each participant will create their own 11x14” canvas painting, which can stand alone or be paired side by side for a combined work of art. Step-by-step instruction is provided. Shakopee Community Ed Color RunFamily ActivitiesGet splashed with color as you support a great cause! You'll run or walk through eight color stations on our one-mile course around Sun Path Elementary. The registration fee includes a white t-shirt with this year's race logo, refreshments and an opportunity to explore our exciting summer offerings. This is an untimed, non-competitive event that focuses on fun, fitness and community. We encourage fun costumes, themes and all kinds of silliness. Strollers are allowed, but please leave your pets at home. All proceeds from this event fund financial assistance for Shakopee residents to participate in Community Education classes that promote academic, social and personal growth. Additional Event Features: 1/4-mile fun run for kids five and under. This portion of the event is free and no registration is required. Summer Program Fair. For those who want to get creative, we’ll teach techniques for making roses, flowers and other spring-inspired designs. Your fee includes cupcakes, frosting and all decorations.
