Engineering Camp: Crazy Action ContraptionsWeek 2Unleash your imagination as you journey through the wide-ranging world of LEGO® building. Working in pairs, students will build models and discuss the engineering science behind each creation. This engaging hands-on class shows how engineering can be both silly and educational at the same time. Students will then be challenged to improve and customize their designs for added creativity. Possible projects include the never-look-back machine, skittletops, do-nothing machine, coat hanger daredevil, trapdoor cable car, parachute machine, rubber band racer and other wild contraptions. Escape Room in a BoxFamily ActivitiesWork your way through a series of puzzles and ciphers to be the first team to Escape! You'll need to work as a team through these hands-on activities, using plenty of critical thinking and problem solving skills! The puzzles will be fun for all ages and prizes will be awarded for fast finishers! Pizza and water will be served at 5:30pm and the contest will begin at 6pm. Esports Spring ClubYouth Grades K-12Does your student love gaming? Join the Esports Spring Club - a fun and relaxed way to compete with other schools while developing valuable skills! Players will strengthen communication, collaboration, teamwork, leadership and strategic thinking as they level up in their favorite games. Whether they’re seasoned gamers or just getting started, this club offers a great way to connect, compete and have fun in a safe environment. Students may participate individually or in teams, with meeting times varying by game title. Games to choose from: Super Smash Bros, Minecraft, Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, Mario Kart 8, Rocket League, Chess and other titles that have not been announced yet. Please note middle school students under 13 will be allowed to register only for the following titles: Chess, Mario Kart 8, Minecraft and Super Smash Bros. Students participate virtually in their own home and provide their own equipment. All Teams need to be created and signed up for their respective seasons on the league platform by March 26. Hall of Fame Olympic Fencing Coach, Ro Sobalvarro, crafts all lessons and curriculum that is used to train the instructors. Students pair up and practice a fencing move or concept, rotate partners and repeat. Students are then asked to mock-fence using only the moves taught thus far.Safety is the first priority! We supply safety swords, protective masks, chest plates and jackets and we practice in a high octane, inclusive environment. Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes (no sandals). Taught by veteran instructors, this class covers the most commonly tested concepts, test-taking techniques and time-management strategies. Instructors can also answer any questions the students might have regarding when to take the ACT, how many times to test, and how to leverage a strong score to improve candidacy at target colleges.
