Parents/Guardians and Newborn (0-4 months) - Newborn Baby Talk is a FREE Non-Separating class for parents with newborns Birth to 16 weeks. The newborn classes will be taught by an Early Childhood Parent and Family Educator along with a Scott County Public Health Nurse. This class is to be supportive to you as the parent/guardian - answering your questions as well as supporting you on your parenting journey. Each week will include a facilitated discussion, a time for questions and answers, and time for weighing your newborn.

Spend quality time painting with your child in this fun, hands-on class. No experience is needed. Each participant will create their own 11x14” canvas painting, which can stand alone or be paired side by side for a combined work of art. Step-by-step instruction is provided. Ages five and up with an adult.

This non-separating class will give you opportunities to explore and play with developmentally appropriate toys, and art materials. Circle time with songs, movement and books will provide you and your child with ways to enjoy music together at school and at home. A parent educator will provide time for questions and discussion around this stage of your child’s development and other parenting topics.

Parent and Pre-K: (36-60 months and not in Kindergarten). Must be age eligible for class by 9/15/25. This class include a parent/child play time, a circle time and a separation time. Families will enjoy a time for discussion with one of our parent educators while your preschooler continues to explore their classroom. They will continue to build peer relationships, self confidence, and independence with guidance from their Early Childhood teacher.

Parent and Twos Classes: (24-36 months) Must be age eligible for class by 9/15/25. Each class starts with caregiver/child play time followed by a large group circle time. Class will then separate for caregivers to enjoy a chat time with one of our parent educators as your two year old continues to explore and build peer relationships guided by an Early Childhood Teacher.

Peek into Preschool - Lunch Bunch: This special one hour can be added to Peek into Preschool. Your child will learn skills about the lunch room - how to hold a lunch tray, go through the lunch line, sit at a cafeteria lunch table, open a milk carton, enjoy lunch with friends and more! Early childhood staff will be with your child as they learn these skills.

Welcome to Neverland, where things are never, ever bland! When Peter Pan gets caught by the Darling family, he brings them all back to Neverland rather than risk being made to grow up. But when they all arrive in Wonderland, they realize that father George and mother Mary are no longer grown ups… they’ve been turned into children again! One visit to Doc Belle and the Tinkers later and they learn their diagnosis, NoFunitis, is irreversible unless they learn to have fun again! So Peter, Wendy, John, Michael, Nana and Tink take George and Mary on a trip around Neverland, introducing them to the best parts about being a kid again! But things can never be that easy for the leader of the Lost Kids, because Captain Hook is planning to end Peter Pan’s fun once and for all! While that wretched Pan is showing the Darlings around and introducing them to the other residents of Neverland, Captain Hook and his pirates are planning the ultimate trap for Peter, the Lost Kids, and even the Darlings. Of course, Captain Hook’s one fear needs to be dealt with first so that nothing can stop him. Tick, tock, tick, tock! Will Captain Hook be able to ensnare the Lost Kids before the Darling parents learn how to have fun again? Or will the Darling parents learn that having fun is good for a person? Join us on this fantastical trip to Neverland to find out!All students participate on stage in this play. Auditions are on Monday, and will last two hours. Roles will be announced at the end of the audition and everyone will stay afterward for rehearsal. Rehearsal schedule for the week is generally 8:30am-12:45pm, but might vary based on role. An exact schedule will be distributed on Monday. Please be sure to send a snack and water bottle with your student every day! Public performances will be held on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 11am at Shakopee West Middle School. Stage. Tickets are $5/person. There will be a private performance for YMCA childcare on Friday at 1pm.
