The Kitchen Garden - Photosynthesis to Plate

Ever wondered how a ray of sunshine turns into a crunchy snack? Welcome to the "Green Lab," where biology meets the cutting board!

In this class, we trace the incredible journey of energy from the sun all the way to our dinner plates. Students will become part botanist and part chef as they explore the “magic” of how plants grow and why they taste so good.

We will dig into the science of botany to understand the anatomy of the food we eat. From roots hidden underground to leaves reaching for the sky, every part of a plant has a job to do and a flavor to share!

Charlene is a licensed educator with over 25 years of experience teaching science in a classroom setting. During her career, she's taught a diverse selection of topics - including biology, math, chemistry, entomology, bird ecology, life science, physics and more. In addition to her work in classrooms across Minnesota, she's also taught abroad in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Today, she organizes a range of community education courses to help students across over 30 school districts discover the basis principles of science, technology, physics, and of course, baking and cake pop decoration.
