The Geometry of Pizza and Pi

Who knew that the secret to mastering math was hidden in a pizza box? Grab your apron and your calculator for a delicious dive into the world of circles, ratios and delicious toppings. In this class, we’re turning the kitchen into a geometry lab to discover the “delicious” side of pi. From calculating the perfect crust-to-sauce ratio to understanding the symmetry of a pepperoni slice, we’ll explore how numbers and shapes come together to create the world’s favorite food.

Charlene is a licensed educator with over 25 years of experience teaching science in a classroom setting. During her career, she's taught a diverse selection of topics - including biology, math, chemistry, entomology, bird ecology, life science, physics and more. In addition to her work in classrooms across Minnesota, she's also taught abroad in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Today, she organizes a range of community education courses to help students across over 30 school districts discover the basis principles of science, technology, physics, and of course, baking and cake pop decoration.
